Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Project Services:

Maintain a network of engineering consultants, project managers, and construction managers to deliver projects and major maintenance to plan, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Site Support and Engagement:

Conduct site inspections to monitor works undertaken and check conditions as required, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Technical Leadership:

Provide guidance, leadership, and technical direction for projects and maintenance undertaken by the Bitumen terminals, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Engineering Standards:

Document company asset and engineering standards, monitor compliance to standards, and provide guidance to others, ensuring a high standard of compliance.

Technology:

Maintain a knowledge and understanding of trends and technology applicable to the Bitumen industry, identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Risk Management:

Identify and document potential risks and develop effective control strategies to minimize these risks, ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment.

Budget Management:

Create and manage budgets for projects and engineering services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.

Procurement:

Contribute towards and lead proposals and tenders where appropriate, ensuring the best value for Puma Energy.

Safety & Quality:

Ensure all aspects of the safety management and quality management systems are followed in the work performed, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Statutory Compliance:

Ensure all engineering tasks performed and deliverables created comply with statutory requirements as well as company policies and practices.

Business Support:

Perform all other tasks as directed by your Manager, supporting the overall objectives of Puma Energy.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Qualifications that best support this role are tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline.
  • > 5 years of experience related to similar operations, including > 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience in managing the safe operation of a hazardous facility, emergency response, and managing high-pressure situations.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively with others
  • Effective communicator
  • Knowledge of relevant industry safety, engineering standards, and trade practices
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly regarding processing equipment
  • Experience in project management
  • Strong customer focus and self-motivated to identify and implement operational improvements
  • Strong computer skills using Office Suite, and any Maintenance and HSE systems
