About the Role

The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive Cultural Liaison Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide cultural support and engagement to a cohort of male First Nations offenders, including those with complex needs and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and stakeholders to promote positive service outcomes.
  • Contribute to case management and provide advice to management and staff on specific cultural issues pertaining to offenders.
  • Consult with relevant multicultural communities and organisations to secure suitable cultural opportunities for offenders.
  • Represent The State of Queensland and contribute to forums and meetings, promoting a positive and respectful image of the organisation.
Essential Requirements
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and establish strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Current knowledge and interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, trends, and practices, with a drive for continual learning and professional development.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and maintain effective internal and external professional partnerships.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and represent The State of Queensland in a professional manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce written reports and contribute to forums and meetings.
