Role Overview

The Court Liaison Officer plays a crucial role in assisting magistrates with diverting defendants with mental health issues from the Criminal Justice System into community-based services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist magistrates in evaluating defendants with potential mental health concerns.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans to divert defendants from custody into appropriate community-based programs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and psychologists, to provide comprehensive support to defendants.
Requirements
  • Hold a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 qualification.
  • Have current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Possess five years full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience in an acute mental health setting.
  • Hold a relevant post-graduate qualification in mental health and a valid NSW Driver Licence.
