Community Mental Health Support Specialist

The Court Liaison Officer plays a crucial role in assisting magistrates with diverting defendants with mental health issues from the Criminal Justice System into community-based services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist magistrates in evaluating defendants with potential mental health concerns.
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans to divert defendants from custody into appropriate community-based programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and psychologists, to provide comprehensive support to defendants.
- Hold a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 qualification.
- Have current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Possess five years full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience in an acute mental health setting.
- Hold a relevant post-graduate qualification in mental health and a valid NSW Driver Licence.
The Statewide Community and Court Liaison Service delivers mental health support in Local Courts across New South Wales, conducting thorough evaluations and providing recommendations to magistrates for diverting individuals from custody into treatment options.
