About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Technical Officer to join our team at the Public Transport Authority. As a key member of our fleet operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our bus fleet.

Your primary responsibility will be to conduct critical inspections and investigations on mechanical, bodywork, and electronic bus systems, with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and roadworthiness. You will also ensure that bus maintenance procedures align with our standards and requirements, while planning, coordinating, and executing compliance audits on maintenance performed by metropolitan and regional bus operators.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Knowledge of and expertise with Australian Standards relevant to the bus industry and the Australian Design Rules.
  • Trade Certificate in a related discipline and a thorough knowledge of related automotive trades.
  • Ability to analyze and solve technical problems in a transport environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work unsupervised, plan and prioritize work, and meet targets.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
