
Aboriginal Mental Health Specialist

The Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker plays a pivotal role in delivering culturally responsive child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs.
This position requires the successful candidate to be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, as they will be working closely with Aboriginal children, adolescents, their families, and communities. The ideal applicant will demonstrate the ability to integrate Aboriginal cultural experiences, communicate effectively with other professionals, and facilitate group functions as a team member.
To excel in this role, you will need to:
- Demonstrate ability to integrate Aboriginal cultural competence into practice
- Communicate and collaborate with other professionals, facilitate group functions, and work effectively as a team member
- Engage, establish meaningful relationships, and have informed discussions with Aboriginal children and young people
- Have experience working in social and emotional/mental health services and/or other relevant community services as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of appropriate counselling and group work modalities for Aboriginal children, young people, and their families
The Women's & Children's Health Network provides state-of-the-art healthcare for women, babies, children, and young people across South Australia. This includes specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions, as well as maternity and obstetric services. Our community-based services reach hundreds of thousands of vulnerable babies, children, and young people, their families, and communities through various services and programs in areas such as mental health, child and family health services, youth health, and Aboriginal health services.

RequirementsAboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity.

Experience working in social and emotional/mental health services and/or other relevant community services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
