Project Technology Control Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Project Technology Control Specialist to join our team at Garden Island. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a Trade Compliance Plan for a program or project, ensuring relevant licenses and authorisations are in place.

  • Managing and producing a specific Project Technology Control Plan for each project containing US controlled material and technology.
  • Ensuring all receipts, storage, access, handling and transmission of export-controlled technology or data aligns with our rights under relevant authorisations and Technology Control Plan.
  • Maintaining records of relevant authorisations or licenses, including Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and/or Manufacturing Licence Agreements (MLAs).
  • Ensuring only authorised personnel have access to US controlled items and recording details and maintaining a list of authorised personnel.
  • Keeping stakeholders aware of regulations concerning right to access, handling and safeguarding of US controlled material and technology.
  • Briefing employees on Project Technology Control Plan contents and ensuring they execute a Briefing Acknowledgement Form.
  • Preparing corrective action plans in relation to identified breaches of our export control obligations.
  • Conducting Controlled Technology self-inspection reports (audits) according to the Quarterly Security Reporting Schedule.
  • Advising the Security Officer on received controlled technology and informing them of authorised personnel working with technology.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to export controls.

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience operating in engineering/maintenance environments.
  • Experience operating in Defence environments involving licencing and trade compliance.
  • Knowledge of ITAR and US export controls.
  • Experience with export/import requirements in Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing a Technology Compliance Plan, implementing and ensuring compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work across various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and set timeframes.
  • Proactive attitude.
