Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned electrical design expert to lead the development of innovative and effective protection and control solutions for our network services. As Principal Electrical Design Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in driving excellence through the implementation of best-practice policies and procedures across distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission assets.

You will be responsible for providing specialist engineering design and advice in relation to the design of zone substations, industrial substations, and distributed generation network connections to various standards and technical manuals. Your expertise will ensure high productivity, efficiency, and quality outcomes while considering safety, technical, commercial, and environmental factors.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and improving processes and systems, monitoring and approving engineering solutions and proposals, and developing and implementing new technologies and innovative design practices. Additionally, you will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the design team and the company's competitive position by understanding market trends, customers, and competitors.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of new protection and control technologies such as IEC61850 & SCADA.
  • Demonstrated experience in fault current analysis using complex numbers and symmetrical components.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines, standards, and codes.
  • Extensive experience in specifying and configuring protection relays from major suppliers.
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with the relevant authority.
