Animal Welfare Specialist

Job DescriptionThis part-time role requires an energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys a varied caseload. Every day presents an opportunity to make a difference by welcoming domestic patients through various channels.
- Provide high-quality veterinary care to all animals presented at the clinic.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
- E nsure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise veterinary students and provide training to Animal Rescue Officers and Veterinary Nurses.
- Help achieve good welfare outcomes for every patient while upholding RSPCA QLD values.
- Participate in team and general staff meetings.
- Contribute to approved research projects as directed by the head scientist.
To be successful, you will need:
- A Degree in Veterinary Science registerable in Queensland.
- A minimum of three years' general veterinary experience.
- Prior welfare experience is an asset but not essential.
- The ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume hospital environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, including attention to detail and prioritising tasks.
- Ability to establish solutions for complex problems while working autonomously and collaboratively.
- Flexibility and adaptability are crucial.
- A genuine interest in animal welfare and the objectives of RSPCA Qld.
- The ability to perform physical duties, including manual handling, and handle a minimum weight of 10 kilos.

This role offers an estimated salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on location and experience. The position is part-time, requiring a commitment of 2 days per week across our Gympie and Noosa Shelters.
