About the Role
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Queensland (RSPCA Qld) is seeking a visionary leader to drive its mission forward as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a highly visible and high-profile position in the sector due to RSPCA Queensland's role in animal welfare, advocacy, and public education.
As CEO, you will lead an organization that currently rehomes more animals than any other organization in the Southern Hemisphere, caring for 42,000 animals and helping 9,825 animals find new homes last year alone.
You will work closely with the Board, 450 staff, government, and key stakeholders (including more than 3,000 volunteers) to provide strategic leadership and advance the mission of RSPCA Queensland.
The Society has established a number of commercial operations to supplement revenue, including World for Pets, RSPCA Op Shops, School for Pets, and Pets at Rest. You will be responsible for leadership and strategy, operational oversight, fundraising and development, external relations and advocacy, and governance and board relations.
The Board is seeking candidates with a demonstrated history of leadership in executive and CEO roles. You must have a strong interest in and preparedness to engage with the community, alongside genuine care for animals and their wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary and strategic leadership to advance the mission of RSPCA Queensland
- Lead an organization with a $50M annual turnover and 450 staff
- Work closely with the Board, government, and key stakeholders to achieve organizational goals
- Develop and implement commercial operations to supplement revenue
- Oversee fundraising and development efforts to support the organization's work
- Engage with the community and promote the organization's mission
