Job Opportunity for a Software Engineer

The company is rapidly innovating in the world of journalism, developing a high-quality subscription product that users love and see best-in-class retention rates when renewing their subscriptions.

As a Software Engineer, you will work closely with our staff scattered across the world, as well as other product and engineering teams. You will be trusted and encouraged to dream up and try out your own ideas and experiments, joining a team of generalists who work on the whole stack: frontend, backend, database, and APIs.

The role requires a strong entrepreneurial mindset, experience with video capabilities, and a desire to work in a fast-paced growth environment. You will need 2+ years of full-stack engineering development experience, including delivering products working across the stack and growing skills in the backend and designing data persistence layers.

Apart from technical skills, we are looking for someone who is comfortable building the frontend and wants to grow their skills in the backend. Experience with Javascript, React, Apollo, and AWS is highly desirable.

  • Work with the Product team to implement growth-related features and experiments on the website and in our backend APIs
  • Suggest and prototype product improvements and features aimed at growing our subscriber base
  • Architect and build solutions that take into account performance, growth, scalability, ease of future development, and code quality
  • Investigate, debug, and fix user-reported production issues
  • Work with the team to influence technology direction
