Senior Category Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Category Specialist to lead our category management initiatives. This senior role offers a unique opportunity to shape our procurement strategies, improve supply chain resilience, and drive cost savings.

About the Role
  • Develop and execute strategic category plans across all assets to meet operational requirements.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and spend data to identify opportunities for improvement and savings.
  • Create category plans, oversee contract execution, and negotiate complex contractual terms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design product groups that maximize value and streamline delivery.
  • Provide strategic guidance to shape effective sourcing strategies and drive procurement excellence.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement category management strategies to achieve business objectives.
  2. Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and spend data to inform category decisions.
  3. Contract Management: Create category plans, oversee contract execution, and negotiate complex contractual terms.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders to design product groups that maximize value and streamline delivery.
  5. Procurement Excellence: Provide strategic guidance to shape effective sourcing strategies and drive procurement excellence.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in category management, contracts management, or senior procurement roles within mining, resources, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, law, supply chain, or related field.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep knowledge of contract law, procurement legislation, and ability to negotiate complex contractual terms.
  • Proven track record of managing high-value, high-risk contracts under tight deadlines.
