We are seeking a skilled professional to lead our hardwood timber procurement strategy. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sourcing, supplier relations, contract management, and market development with a focus on procurement from Africa, South America, and the Pacific Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast timber needs based on market demand">
  • Oversee all procurement activities for hardwood timber">
  • Manage and grow supplier relationships">
  • Negotiate and review contracts and supplier agreements">
  • Prepare contracts and manage tender processes">
  • Ensure all timber products meet Australian specifications">
  • Work with certification bodies to maintain compliance standards">
  • Drive business growth in the imported hardwood market in Australia">
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance performance and sustainability">

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have previous managerial experience in retail and wholesale operations, proven experience in sales within the timber and building materials industry, and previous procurement experience in South America and Africa. They should also possess strong negotiation, relationship management, and contract drafting skills, be willing to travel internationally and domestically as required, and have in-depth knowledge of certification and compliance standards nationally and internationally. Additionally, they should have previous experience in international logistics management and be a strategic thinker with a proactive approach to business development.
