About the Role

MUFG is seeking a highly skilled Senior Portfolio Risk Manager to join our Portfolio Management Unit (PMU) in Global Corporate & Investment Banking for APAC (GCIB APAC). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing portfolio risk appetite parameters, monitoring credit risk, and concentration risk at a portfolio level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement credit risk strategies and guidelines for loan portfolios in various sectors and countries across GCIB APAC.
  • Establish and monitor portfolio risk parameters, setting clear boundaries for each metric to manage credit risk and concentration risk in each sector and country.
  • Regularly update and enhance the monitoring framework based on market developments and conditions, including early warning indicators.
  • Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management and committees for new or updated guidance to enhance credit risk management of the portfolio.
  • Monitor risk parameters in each sector and country, as well as concentration risks within GCIB APAC, compared to thresholds and targets, and classify metrics into stages to take appropriate actions.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of watch list portfolios and high-risk transactions.
  • Model potential stress scenarios to adapt the profit and loss (P&L) to market conditions, including potential increases in credit costs, provisions, and risk-weighted assets in sectors, countries, and the overall GCIB APAC portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, sector teams, credit divisions, and risk management offices to develop credit risk strategies and update the monitoring framework, reflecting the latest market conditions.
  • Lead communication to liaise with internal stakeholders to execute the portfolio strategy.
  • Supervise a direct reporting staff and provide guidance and advice to contribute to the entire department.
  • Manage resources in the team and continuously enhance processes and tools.
  • Provide opportunities for individual development, including coaching, career progression, and training, for staff under your management.
  • Maintain the Management Information System (MIS) tool and data to build and update the risk monitoring framework.
  • Demonstrate leadership for the responsibility and span of control, involving high-level interaction with senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience working in the financial industry.
  • 5 years of experience in credit risk and concentration risk management at a portfolio level, including credit costs, risk weights, and early warning frameworks.
  • Experience leading teams and managing regional projects.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and communication/presentation skills to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong management skills, coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills to lead the team.
  • Completed a relevant bachelor's degree or above.
