
Logistics Operations Manager

The Distribution Team Leader is responsible for coordinating and supervising the afternoon shift distribution team. This includes maintaining internal documentation, registers, and ensuring close liaison with key Sales and Distribution stakeholders to meet customer supply requirements.
This hands-on position involves operating a forklift, including loading and unloading vehicles, reporting on daily and weekly targets/performance, and monitoring performance against established metrics. Ensuring accurate data, documentation, and record-keeping is also crucial in this role.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring product quality and food safety through a focus on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and hygiene control. They will also demonstrate safety leadership and lead a focus on Health and Safety and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance, monitor and reduce waste, foster a culture of continuous improvement, manage inventory/stock rotation, drive a dynamic workplace with a supportive culture, chair daily team meetings, act as the contact person for distribution team members, monitor the shift phone, coordinate overtime and shift coverage if required, and work closely with other team leaders and the Distribution Manager to ensure team performance is sustained and consistent across shifts.
- Coordinate the afternoon shift distribution team to meet production and distribution targets.

Key Requirements
- Previous Supply Chain operations experience within an FMCG or Food Services organization.
- Strong people management and influencing skills.
- High digital dexterity with working knowledge of Microsoft suite and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Transport Chain of Responsibility regulations.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Ability to build trust through commitment, care, and leading by example.
- Agility to think quickly and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively coach and mentor team members and lead by example to introduce change and collaboration.
- Experience with managing freight and related processes.
- Experience working in a cold store environment is preferable but not essential.
- Flexibility to work overtime.
- Flexibility to work public holidays as required.
This role requires individuals with strong leadership and coordination skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in supply chain operations, preferably within an FMCG or Food Services organization.
