Network Development Engineer Role

The Network Development Engineer will be responsible for developing, automating, and maintaining network operational support systems and network management systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing, developing, and implementing network automation scripts, tools, and plugins.
  • Leading technology development activities within the Network Systems and Technology Center.
  • Managing code repositories, including Git, SVN, and Bitbucket.
  • Implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like VSTS, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, and Jenkins.
  • Developing and maintaining database systems, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Working with public cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Developing and implementing network management systems, including MANO (Management and Orchestration) systems.
  • Supporting and maintaining various systems and servers, including Nagios, MRTG, Cacti, eHealth, TACACS, and Syslogs.
  • Researching and testing open-source network management tools.
  • Providing guidance on pipeline architecture and management.
  • Collaborating with leadership and development teams to implement changes.
  • Translating functional requirements into robust and maintainable test scenarios and suites.
  • Assisting QA analysts and software developers in triaging and analyzing defects.
  • Setting up and configuring Unix/Linux/Windows servers for monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting various applications hosted on UNIX, Linux, and Windows platforms.
  • Supporting and maintaining DNS servers.
  • Handling requests for new TACACS accounts and device management.
  • Processing requests for new support tickets and queues.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to OS jumpbox logins and MRTG graphs.
Requirements:
  • A relevant Bachelor's Degree or Tertiary qualifications in IT/Telecommunications.
  • CISCO certifications will be highly regarded.
  • Python programming skills.
  • Linux certification is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 preferable 5 years of experience in IT and Telco, with a focus on administering and supporting network management and related systems.
  • Strong skills in routing and switch networking.
  • Preferably, a background in Linux/UNIX.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective technical analysis and troubleshooting capabilities.
