Senior Solicitor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Solicitor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality legal services within the family violence and family law jurisdiction.

Working closely with the Principal Solicitor, you will integrate the legal program into all areas of family violence support services, improving access to justice for women and children experiencing family violence.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum Bachelor of Law and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (or equivalent) and at least five years relevant experience in family law, family violence or child protection.

Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • A current Australian Practising Certificate entitling you to practice as a solicitor in Victoria
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the relevant law and court procedures with a focus on the family law and family violence jurisdiction
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate and negotiate effectively with all stakeholders and clients

As a senior member of our team, you will work independently on complex legal matters, mentor junior legal staff, and participate in systemic change activities such as advocacy, policy development, and community legal education.

The position reports to the Principal Solicitor and offers flexible working arrangements, 10 weeks paid parental leave, salary packaging, health and wellbeing initiatives, an employee assistance program (EAP), social initiatives, and a positive workplace culture.
