About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal & Ethics Counsel to join our team at Roche. As a key member of our legal and ethics team, you will play a critical role in identifying and advising on legal, compliance, and ethical risks and evolving requirements, laws, and standards, particularly with respect to healthcare and corporate regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a business partner to manage legal and healthcare compliance issues, provide insights, and tangible solutions, and maintain the compliance and risk framework.
  • Provide high-quality, strategic, effective, and efficient legal advice and support.
  • Act as a key liaison and influencer, developing and managing key relationships across political, regulatory, and industry bodies.
  • Support continuous improvement of internal practices, policies, and procedures consistent with the wider legal and healthcare compliance environment.
  • Advise on emerging legal and healthcare compliance matters, practices, issues, and trends relevant to the legal and healthcare compliance environment.
Requirements

You will need to be degree-qualified in law and hold a current legal practicing certificate for New South Wales or have the eligibility to immediately apply for such certification. You will also need to have extensive post-admission legal practice experience, supporting companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or a highly regulated industry.

You will need to have significant knowledge of the laws affecting the pharmaceutical industry, including the Therapeutic Goods Act, the Competition and Consumer Act, WH&S Laws, and the Privacy Act. You will also need to have strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills to effectively drive discussions and decisions toward desired outcomes.
