The Grampians Public Health Unit invites applications for a Public Health Medicine Registrar position. This is a unique opportunity to experience the functions and culture of a local public health entity covering the Grampians region.

The role provides a vital training platform, offering a comprehensive understanding of public health practice across various pillars, including health protection, health promotion, and population health.

As a Public Health Medicine Registrar, you will have the chance to work with staff specialists, epidemiologists, health promoters, and other skilled professionals to develop your clinical leadership and administrative skills.

You will be involved in managing notifiable diseases, analyzing public health data, participating in research and surveillance, and contributing to health promotion initiatives aligned with regional priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of unit functions across health protection, disease prevention, and population health
  • Assist in managing and responding to notifiable diseases
  • Analyze and interpret public health data to inform proactive interventions
  • Participate in research, surveillance, and evaluation to identify and mitigate public health risks
  • Contribute to health promotion initiatives aligned with regional priorities
  • Build capacity in population health, clinical epidemiology, and emergency response
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • General registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Master's degree in Public Health (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for, or currently undertaking, advanced training with the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM)
