The role of In-House Legal Counsel presents a compelling chance for a financial services lawyer with extensive consumer and business banking expertise to collaborate with a bank that embodies a purpose-driven culture.

This high-impact position necessitates a commercially astute lawyer with broad in-house financial services experience to provide expert legal guidance across the full spectrum of banking and corporate operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver clear, commercially focused legal advice on banking, corporate, and financial services matters
  • Lead contract negotiation and management, encompassing SLAs, supplier arrangements, finance agreements, and corporate initiatives
  • Navigate complex regulatory landscapes and ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Support board and governance functions, including advice on director duties, conflicts of interest, and statutory reporting
  • Collaborate with business units on risk management and dispute resolution strategies

Requirements & Experience:

  • Admitted solicitor in Australia with at least 3–7 years' post-qualification experience in financial services, banking, or corporate law
  • Expertise in consumer and retail banking law, with an ability to manage a diverse portfolio of legal issues
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at executive and board level
