Cook Shire Council is seeking a dedicated professional to lead recovery initiatives and risk reduction efforts across bushfire-impacted areas of the region.
This role involves working with local communities, stakeholders, and emergency services to foster preparedness, traditional fire management, and resilience planning. The successful candidate will have expertise in disaster recovery, community engagement, and geospatial software.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish strong relationships with community members and stakeholders to ensure trust and effective collaboration.
- Develop and implement community-led recovery and resilience initiatives tailored to local needs and priorities.
- Conduct assessments to identify community needs and facilitate training and workshops to enhance resilience.
- Design and support recovery action plans aligned with Queensland's disaster management framework and regional strategies.
- Assist communities in accessing grants to support recovery projects and promote sustainable development.
- Qualifications and/or significant experience in disaster recovery, community engagement, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in geospatial software and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of disaster management principles, recovery strategies, and risk reduction techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies governing disaster management and recovery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse community groups.
- Makes a meaningful contribution to community outcomes and empowers local resilience efforts.
