Job Description

Job Title: Education Support Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Education Support Assistant to join our team at Cobram Secondary College. The successful candidate will provide support to teachers and students, assisting with planning, coordination, and implementation of educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine support to teachers, including assisting with planning and coordination of student routines.
  • Support communication between teachers and parents, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Communicate with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.
  • Provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, including toileting, meals, and lifting.
  • Communicate with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.
  • Address immediate behavioral presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting, aligned to school policy and procedure.
  • Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.
  • Support teachers in the coordination of educational programs, including rostering and organizing the work of a team of aides.
  • Provide medical intervention support to students, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.
  • Provide specialized communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.

Requirements:

  • Individuals with the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Basic physical care and wellbeing support skills, including toileting, meals, and lifting.
  • Ability to address immediate behavioral presentations and provide basic support and supervision for students.
  • Ability to provide medical intervention support and specialized communication support, as required.
