Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential.
  • A minimum of 9-15 years of experience in conventional and unconventional oil and gas project design, with a focus on enhancing local Australian design practices within an EPCM framework.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facility design and construction, particularly in relation to field facilities (wells and flowlines) and processing plants (water and gas treatment).
  • Proven experience in gas processing facility design, including compression and dehydration facilities for Coal Seam Gas applications.
  • Familiarity with Carbon Capture and Carbon Abatement technologies, as well as resources sector emissions auditing, is highly regarded.
  • Field experience and site visit experience with gas processing facilities are required.
  • Experience in developing collaborative work-share systems between international offices.
  • Proficient in process design, including mass balances, process flow diagrams, and supporting services.
  • Knowledgeable in systems design, including piping and instrument diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, and hazard and operability reviews.
  • Understanding of technical specifications and compliance with Australian and international codes and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Lead Process Engineer, coordinating and addressing various issues impacting process engineering design, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coordination for junior process engineering staff.
  • Conduct Feasibility Studies, Conceptual Designs, Process Studies, and Detailed Engineering Designs.
  • Oversee the execution of work between international offices.
  • Perform process simulations and modeling for oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Develop and finalize key design documents, including Material Balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and Shutdown Keys.
  • Execute line sizing, PSV sizing, and prepare equipment process data sheets.
  • Conduct bid evaluations and provide technical recommendations for vendor data.
  • Leverage Canadian and/or international oil and gas design experience to enhance Australian projects and achieve cost reductions.
  • Actively engage in P&ID/HAZOP reviews, generate control narratives, and prepare start-up and operating manuals.
  • Estimate capital costs during the Concept phase to assess project viability.
  • Represent Equinox as a process engineering contractor in discussions with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

Education and Credentials

  • Location: Brisbane, Australia – ON SITE
  • Permanent Residency in Australia is Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Candidates should possess CPEng or RPEQ Designation.
  • Proficiency in HYSYS and related simulation software is essential.
  • Familiarity with Ariel and Powerflow compressor rating software is required.
  • Proficiency in Fisher Specification Manager software is necessary.
