Role Overview

  • We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) and Educational Data Mining (EDM) projects.

About the Opportunity

  • This is an exciting opportunity to conduct high-quality research, lead or contribute to publications and research grant applications, and play an active role in the supervision of research students.
  • You will work with Professor Kalina Yacef on a range of projects that explore how multimodal data from online platforms and sensor-based environments can be harnessed to enhance learning at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research and lead or contribute to publications and research grant applications.
  • Play an active role in the supervision of research students (PhD and Honours).
  • Provide technical support across the projects.
  • Design algorithms and methods for adaptive and personalised feedback.
  • Model learning behaviours with sequence and deep learning methods.
  • Generate interpretable insights through novel analytics and dashboards.

About You

  • You have a PhD (or near completion) in relevant fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction.
  • You have demonstrated contributions to publications in top-tier conferences and journals in data mining/machine learning, AIED, EDM, and HCI.
  • You possess strong technical expertise in data mining, data management, and machine learning.
  • You are motivated to conduct interdisciplinary work and engage with researchers from other fields and industry partners.
  • You have experience conducting research/scholarly activities under limited supervision and as part of a research team.
  • You have demonstrated ability to contribute to publications, grant writing, and other project outputs.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral).
