Senior Software Engineer Role

This role involves working as a key member of our mobile experimentation and incubation capability, demonstrating best practice and partnering with feature teams to identify opportunities for mobile innovation.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to design end-to-end solutions, provide feedback on others' designs, and ensure they meet operational needs. They will work within a scrum team environment, collaborating with other members of the mobile team in successfully completing their activities while maintaining high standards of code quality and architectural compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Work within a scrum team, coding, analyzing, designing, and supporting existing Connected Propositions mobile applications.
  • Participate in identifying process and system improvements for mobile teams, particularly in native iOS Swift domain.
  • Collaborate with and assist other members of the mobile team in completing their activities, including mentoring and training.
  • Provide analysis and SME services to teams to assist in feature estimations for changes to Connected Propositions mobile applications.
  • Participate in mobile scrum team ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Undertake system analysis, solution design, and technical design activities with high-quality documentation and realistic work estimates.
  • Ensure proposed technical designs comply with application architectural principles and undertake coding activities that comply with any design specification or feature criteria.
  • Undertake manual and automated test activities as per agreed unit test coverage.
  • Ensure application deliverables comply with quality requirements defined by Quality Assurance area.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in mobile app development.
  • Collaborate with engineering managers and technical teams in requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of mobile solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A tertiary qualification in an IT discipline at degree level.
  • At least 4 years of experience in iOS native Swift technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift programming language and iOS development frameworks.
  • Experience with mobile development using languages such as Objective C, Java, Kotlin, or .NET Xamarin highly regarded.
  • Knowledge and experience with REST Services and Azure highly regarded.
  • Good understanding of mobile application architecture principles and design patterns.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills required.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work within various team structures to deliver business outcomes.
  • Strategic thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
