About the Position
As a Project Controls Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and progress of our projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough analyses of project cost performance, monitoring expenditures, and forecasting future financial requirements to aid in budget oversight and strategic financial planning.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior project controls personnel, promoting their professional growth and ensuring adherence to best practices in project controls.
- Tracking project advancement, identifying potential risks and delays, and recommending effective mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Engaging in quantity surveying to verify project progress and ensure accuracy.
- Directly updating project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders to collect essential data and insights for project controls activities.
- Generating regular reports and presentations on project performance, offering valuable insights and recommendations to project teams and clients.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in engineering, data management/analytics, project management, business administration, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within project controls, ideally in the mining and minerals sector or comparable industries.
- Proficiency in project management software, including MS Excel, Oracle, EcoSys, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
- Expertise in advanced data analysis and reporting, with skills in applications such as Power Pivot and Power BI, capable of transforming raw data into actionable insights and creating dynamic visualizations for informed decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record of effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to inspire and guide team members towards shared objectives.
- Familiarity with mining industry regulations, standards, and best practices is advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) are considered a plus.
