At our premium waterfront hotel, we are seeking a skilled and strategic Maintenance Manager to lead our pre-opening engineering team. This role presents an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to shape the maintenance function from inception and drive its ongoing success.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, repair, and installation of all hotel equipment and systems, ensuring seamless operations on opening day and beyond. A strong focus on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance is essential in this position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough facilities inspections to identify defects and coordinate repairs or installations with contractors and vendors.
  • Overseeing procurement of hotel equipment and machinery, ensuring all assets are installed and functioning correctly prior to opening.
  • Ensuring the hotel meets all relevant safety, regulatory, and health standards.
  • Recruiting and training key maintenance personnel to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality services.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and supplies while minimizing waste and promoting sustainability.
  • Collaborating with the hotel finance team to develop budgets and forecasts for the maintenance department.
  • Liaising with contractors and vendors to establish and maintain effective relationships for ongoing maintenance needs.
  • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs to create a safe and comfortable environment for guests.
  • Managing daily maintenance activities to optimize team efficiency and effectiveness.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional certification and licensure if required by law.
  • Hotel experience is highly desirable.
  • A proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and prioritize competing tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a passion for developing your team.
  • Strategic thinking and an open-minded approach to driving business growth.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in other languages is an asset.
  • Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
