Child Protection Work Opportunity

We are seeking professionals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and their families. This role involves working collaboratively with families, other professionals, and community groups to protect vulnerable children and young people from abuse and neglect.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and gain real experience working in child protection. The program offers two start dates: January 19th and March 2nd. Opportunities are available across Victoria, in both metropolitan and regional offices.

The Child Protection Employment Program (CPEP) is a paid 12-week full-time or 16-week part-time program that provides an entry pathway to a Child Protection Practitioner (CPP) role. Participants will have the opportunity to rotate through different areas of child protection, including supervising access visits, transporting children to services and visits, supporting in-home support to families, and documenting case notes.

As a Victorian government employee, you will have access to a broad range of benefits and entitlements, including professional development opportunities, peer support networks, and access to a dedicated wellbeing and support program specifically designed to support our child protection employees' mental health and wellbeing.

To be eligible for this program, you must have already completed or currently studying a social work, welfare, psychology related qualification and/or relevant experience, have graduated in 2025 or be graduating by January 2027, and be available to work 3 to 5 days per week.
