Counsellor (Male) - Aboriginal Community Specialist

Piliyintinji-ki Stronger Families (PSF) is a culturally responsive service that provides support to men, women, and families in the Barkly region. As a Counsellor (Male Identified), you will play a vital role in addressing the social and emotional wellbeing needs of the community.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive counselling services to Aboriginal individuals and families experiencing family violence and associated issues
- Assisting in facilitating activities and programs to enhance the delivery of services
- Identifying trends, gaps, and needs of the Aboriginal population in the Barkly Region to improve access and effectiveness of service delivery
- Liaising with other agencies for referrals and case management
- Providing presentations, community education, and promoting AHAC as required
About You
To be successful in this position, you must have a proven ability to work in a culturally responsive and sensitive manner. You will possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience in engaging with clients and writing documentation and reports.
You should have knowledge of relevant stakeholders and the ability to form networks and relationships with organisations and government departments related to working in this field.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, or a related human services discipline
- Registration with an appropriate authorised practicing governance body in Australia (e.g., AHPRA) and a current practicing certificate
- A current Northern Territory Driver's License or ability to obtain one
- Be in possession of (or have the ability to apply for) a National Police Clearance and an OCHRE Card
- Have the right to live and work in Australia
