Regional Lead Opportunity

The Northern Rivers Rail Trail is an award-winning world-class recreational and tourism product that showcases the stunning landscapes and vibrant communities of the Northern Rivers region.

We are seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for nature-based tourism to join our team as the Regional Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, operating, and marketing the NRRT to deliver strategic and commercial objectives in a public sector environment.

About the Role

The Regional Lead will establish and support a new strategic board, lead the multi-Council operations committee, and collaborate with operational and asset management teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing the strategic plan of the Rail Trail.
  • Establishing the NRRT Strategic Board and leading the cross-Council Operations Committee.
  • Leveraging commercial experience to drive financial sustainability and create new revenue streams.
  • Innovating and implementing initiatives to enhance the Rail Trail product and develop operator and business relationships.
  • Delivering consumer programs and quality guest experiences that encourage new and repeat visitation.

Requirements

We are looking for a proven leader in commercial management and strategic development, preferably in the tourism or outdoor recreation industry. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A results-driven attitude with the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Experience in project, contract, and asset management related to natural and built assets.
  • An exceptional communicator and relationship builder who can inspire, engage, and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A passion for nature-based experiences and the ability to travel within the Northern Rivers region regularly.
