Financial Counsellor Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Financial Counsellor to join our team. As a Financial Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice and support to individuals struggling with financial difficulties.

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality financial counselling services, assisting clients to manage their debts and alleviate financial stress. You will also be responsible for developing and facilitating Financial Literacy workshops for vulnerable individuals on various topics.

To be successful in this role, you will require professional experience as a financial counsellor, combining empathy and understanding with effective teamwork skills. You must be flexible in your approaches, able to work under pressure, multitask, and maintain strong professional links with local and national financial counselling peak bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide High-Level Financial Counselling Assistance: Offer expert guidance and support to DCLS' clients, particularly those in private rentals, to help them resolve personal financial difficulties and access other sources of support and assistance.
  • Assist Clients in Need: Work closely with clients to identify their unique challenges and develop personalized solutions to help them achieve financial stability.
  • Build Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with referring agencies, community leaders, and key organizations to ensure seamless collaboration and referrals.
  • Maintain Professional Links: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and best practices by maintaining professional links with local and national financial counselling peak bodies and relevant regulators.
  • Develop and Facilitate Workshops: Create and deliver engaging Financial Literacy workshops for vulnerable individuals on various topics, empowering them to make informed decisions about their financial well-being.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection and Management: Ensure accurate and timely data collection, file management, and internal quality assurance procedures are in place, consistent with the service's administrative systems.
  • Service Delivery Planning: Collaborate with the Management team to prepare service delivery plans and reports to funding agencies, ensuring transparency and accountability.
