Job Title: Underground Geologist

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic underground geologist to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will assist the Technical Services Team by providing geological expertise to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the mine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop initial productivity assumptions based on historical performance and data base considerations
  • Utilise production modelling tools to schedule mine outputs (tonnes, metres etc.) for the following 12-month period
  • Contribute to production schedule to be optimised (development, longwall and gas drainage) based on maximum and minimum floats
  • Assist in developing panel planning standard prior to the commencement of each
  • Undertake mine optional assessments (covering the range of possible operating cases) in consultation with the Senior Mining Engineer and Technical Services Superintendent
  • Support in preparing a detailed mine plan showing location of existing and proposed driveheads, tripper drives, sumps, pump stations, overcasts, substations, shafts, drift, longwall installation and recovery roads, proposed gas drainage, roadway and pillars
  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to support the operational objectives of the mine

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related field
  • Experience in a productive, contemporary longwall coal mine
  • Willingness to learn how to use various technologies employed in the profession
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and technological advancement in mining
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • The ability to pass an industry medical assessment is required
