We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Health Safety Environment Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees and stakeholders.

Job Overview:

The Health Safety Environment Advisor will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe working environment, developing risk assessments, and implementing effective safety protocols. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for improving workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk assessments in alignment with the project's schedule of works, identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Safety Protocols: Develop, schedule, and champion a project-specific SHET Monitoring Program directly informed by completed, activity-specific risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Incident Investigation: Facilitate and report on incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Monitor the effectiveness of the application of the Safety and Health, Environment and Training Management Plans on site, providing advice to the Project Manager on possible improvement initiatives.
  • Communication: Notify, classify, and record in the incident database all incidents that occur on the project, ensuring a complete and accurate incident record exists.
  • Auditing: Conduct audits, inspections, and observations to demonstrate visible safety leadership and sound audit practice, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report on the implementation of project SHET management plans and the SHET Activity Planner (including identified corrective actions) to the Project Manager as required.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain all project SHET registers such that they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to SHET risk-based content within planned project communication forums, engaging with stakeholders and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Inductions and Investigations: Assess compliance with site access requirements, facilitate inductions, and provide technical input into investigation reports, leading significant investigations where required.
  • SHET Information: Develop content, provide input, and where required deliver SHET information (including inductions), in accordance with the requirements of the sustainability systems.
  • Organizational Improvement: Contribute to broader Golding SHET improvement programs, identifying opportunities for growth and development.

To be successful in this role, you will require a relevant Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience, minimum two years mining site-based experience, demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate risk assessments associated with mining work, and experience in auditing, incident reporting, and incident investigation.
