Lead Climate Change and Sustainability Initiatives

We seek a dedicated professional to drive climate action and sustainability in our local government operations and communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to lead the delivery of our Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan and support impactful environmental and sustainability initiatives.

About the Role
  • Coordinate, implement, monitor and report on Council's Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan.
  • Identify and implement emissions reduction initiatives for both Council operations and the community.
  • Provide strategic and technical climate risk advice, embedding adaptation into our planning and decision making.
  • Contribute to capital works planning, procurement, and asset management to support climate change mitigation and adaptation.
  • Support community engagement and environmental volunteer programs.
  • Support broader environmental and sustainability priorities such as natural values management and waste minimisation.
  • Identify and pursue external funding opportunities to support climate and sustainability projects.
  • Represent us in community, educational and other forums related to climate change and sustainability.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Working With Vulnerable Persons Card (ability to obtain)
