We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Advisor to join our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team at Energy Queensland.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment where you will be responsible for managing and delivering safety-related projects and initiatives to support business performance.
You will work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders to propose strategies, research, plan, project manage, and lead the implementation of safety-related standards, processes, and practices.
The role has an element of travel involved, so you must have a willingness to travel intrastate and interstate when required. The level of travel will depend on projects and their locations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards.
- Collaborate with management and industrial partners to identify and mitigate safety risks, and develop strategies to improve safety performance.
- Manage and deliver safety-related projects, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring progress.
- Conduct site visits and audits to monitor safety performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures, policies, and protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on safety incidents, near misses, and other safety-related matters.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree qualification in Health, Safety, and Environment or Project Management (or related discipline/demonstrable experience).
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively, with a strong focus on safety.
- Experience in using HSE management systems and demonstrating ability to use and leverage new technology.
We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
