We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Advisor to join our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team at Energy Queensland.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment where you will be responsible for managing and delivering safety-related projects and initiatives to support business performance.

You will work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders to propose strategies, research, plan, project manage, and lead the implementation of safety-related standards, processes, and practices.

The role has an element of travel involved, so you must have a willingness to travel intrastate and interstate when required. The level of travel will depend on projects and their locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards.
  • Collaborate with management and industrial partners to identify and mitigate safety risks, and develop strategies to improve safety performance.
  • Manage and deliver safety-related projects, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring progress.
  • Conduct site visits and audits to monitor safety performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on safety incidents, near misses, and other safety-related matters.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree qualification in Health, Safety, and Environment or Project Management (or related discipline/demonstrable experience).
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively, with a strong focus on safety.
  • Experience in using HSE management systems and demonstrating ability to use and leverage new technology.
