Cloud Data Architect Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Architect to join our team. As a key member of our data engineering group, you will design and deliver innovative cloud-based data solutions for forward-thinking organizations.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable and secure cloud data platforms using core data warehouse tools, distributed processing engines, and event streaming platforms.
  • Develop next-generation data architectures for clients, including big data platforms, cloud data warehouses, and object-oriented coding.
  • Analyze client environments and technical challenges, as well as their plans for evolving or creating future state architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategy, architecture, and implementation of cloud data solutions.
  • Communicate complex solution designs to stakeholders and drive consensus among combined teams.
  • Break down complex development tasks and ensure timely quality completion of development items assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Broad experience in cloud architecture design, deep expertise in one or more cloud data engineering technologies, curious mindset, thirst for knowledge, and hunger for experimentation.
  • Self-starter mindset and ability to break down large problems into smaller ones, share learnings within projects and the broader community.
  • Hands-on experience with new cloud data platforms and programming languages, including:
  • Big Data Platforms (Apache Spark, Presto, Amazon EMR)
  • Cloud Data Warehouses (Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery)
  • Object Oriented Coding (Java, Python)
  • NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB)
  • Container Management Systems (Kubernetes, Amazon ECS)
  • Streaming Data Ingestion and Analytics (Amazon Kinesis, Apache Kafka)
  • Modern Data Workflows (Apache Airflow, dbt, Dagster)
