Job Summary

Space Machines Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical power systems for our next fleet of satellites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of satellite power bus systems, ensuring compliance with all technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, simulate, and test power electronic circuits, including DC/DC converters, power distribution units, and battery management systems.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms for power electronics systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate power electronics into the overall satellite system.
  • Perform detailed analysis and simulations to validate design concepts and predict performance.
  • Oversee the development and testing of prototypes and production units, ensuring all designs meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics design and development, with a focus on aerospace or satellite systems.
  • Proven experience with the design and development of satellite power bus systems.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronic devices, circuit design, and simulation tools.
  • Experience with control algorithms and digital control of power electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for satellite systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and innovatively.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex technical information to a range of audiences.
  • Experience with radiation-hardened power electronics and designing for harsh space environments.
  • Knowledge of satellite system architecture and integration.
  • Experience with project management and leading engineering projects from concept to production.
