Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Boilermaker to join our team on the Ampol Future Fuels Project at Lytton. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a critical Australian infrastructure project that will contribute to reducing emissions and improving the environment.

As a Boilermaker, you will be responsible for various metal fabrication tasks including cutting, shaping, assembling, and welding of plate and/or structural steel items such as tanks, pressure vessels, modules, pipe supports, and structural steel. You will work with precision and technical expertise to ensure that all tasks are completed to the highest quality standards and safety regulations.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Constructing, assembling, and installing components following blueprints, drawings, and specifications with high precision.
  • Performing welding tasks using techniques such as FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW based on project requirements and material specifications.
  • Welding plate and structural components in sequence to eliminate shrinkage and distortion.
  • Interpreting engineering and detailed fabrication drawings, specifications, and standards to complete tasks accurately.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to workplace safety and the safety of your co-workers;
  • Utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintaining and caring for welding equipment, tools, and machinery, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
  • Collaborating with other team members, including engineers, QA/QC inspectors, and construction management team, to achieve project goals and timelines.
  • Keeping detailed records of work performed: including Daily weld logs, Consumable logs, Workpacks, and Weld maps.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Certificate III in Engineering or a Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker) or equivalent.
  • Work at Heights competency.
  • Confined Work Space entry qualification.
  • White Card certification.
  • A background in construction projects within the Oil & Gas industry will be highly regarded.
