Teaching Fellow Role Summary

The School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW Canberra has an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Fellow. The role plays a crucial part in strengthening links between the university and secondary schools, focusing on teaching approaches for first-year students.

About the Opportunity
  • Deliver mathematics tutorials and other teaching duties for up to 12 hours per week.
  • Undertake class preparation, administration of records, informal consultation with students, exam supervision, marking assessments, and coordination duties.
  • Conduct lecturing, research or scholarship activities, depending on interest and capacity.
  • Assist in course assessment, administration, and curriculum development, as well as outreach activities.
  • Carry out specified administrative duties by the Head of School and/or Director, First Year Studies.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field.
  • Demonstrated strong mathematical background.
  • Experience in teaching mathematics with recent involvement in years 11 and 12.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Promoting mathematical thinking in schools and the community is a key interest.
