Job Description

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides specialist mental health, substance, and alcohol related care to residents of Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Banana Shire, Woorabinda and Central Highlands districts.

Rockhampton is the principal service centre for this area, overseeing medical coverage, professional supervision of medical officers and nurse practitioners, administration of the Mental Health Act, 2016, and support for accreditation and implementation of programs as well as acute inpatient facilities for the Central Queensland Mental Health teams and the ECT services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality psychiatry services to consumers of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service.
  • Provide clinical leadership for the Mental Health clinical team.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The position requires a candidate with a solid background in psychiatric practice. The successful candidate will also demonstrate extensive skills in facilitating effective mental health care across the continuum of Psychiatry of Old Age inpatient and community settings and within a multidisciplinary environment.

  • MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
  • Eligibility for accreditation as a RANZCP-approved supervisor.
  • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies.
