Operations Manager Job Description

We're seeking an experienced operations manager to oversee our industrial machinery service business.

This is a hands-on role, requiring you to lead daily operations, manage the service team, and spend time on-site to stay current and learn the trade.

Our team values collaboration and mutual support; every member is expected to assist each other when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage scheduling, service delivery, customer communication, and reporting.
  • Lead and mentor technicians - setting standards, ensuring their safety, and holding them accountable.
  • Troubleshoot with customers over the phone and support the team in the field.
  • Keep stakeholders informed with clear, practical monthly reports.

Requirements:

  • A trade background in mechanical, diesel, HVAC, electrical, plant maintenance, or similar.
  • Proven team leadership experience - managing performance while maintaining team morale.
  • Strong operational skills - scheduling, job costing, KPIs, and reporting.
  • The confidence to make decisions, solve problems, and step in when issues arise.
  • A balance of 'firm but fair' - holding people accountable without losing their respect.
