Job Title: Vegetation and Horticultural Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Vegetation and Horticultural Consultant to join our team at 11 Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable vegetation management plans to optimize land use, preserve native flora, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sustainable vegetation management plans to optimize land use, preserve native flora, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on the cultivation, health, and yield improvement of crops such as avocados and custard apples, ensuring optimal growth conditions and productivity.
  • Identify and recommend effective pest and disease control measures to protect crops and trees, while promoting environmentally friendly practices.
  • Assess soil health and recommend appropriate soil treatments, irrigation systems, and fertilization strategies to enhance crop and tree growth.
  • Collaborate with arborists and other specialists to monitor and improve the health and structural integrity of trees, including risk assessments and tree care recommendations.
  • Analyze environmental and climate data to provide insights on how weather patterns, soil conditions, and other factors impact vegetation and crop production.
  • Research and introduce new cultivation techniques, plant varieties, and technologies to improve crop yields and overall farm efficiency.
  • Advise on land rehabilitation and erosion control practices, particularly in areas affected by vegetation clearing or tree removal activities.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and management plans for stakeholders, including detailed analysis of potential improvements in productivity and sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth understanding of various plant species, including their growth requirements, cultivation techniques, and pest control methods.
  • Proficient in plant propagation techniques such as seeding, grafting, and cloning to ensure a consistent and healthy plant stock.
  • Knowledge of soil composition, fertilization, and irrigation practices to optimize plant health and growth.
  • Ability to identify and address common pests and diseases affecting plants, employing integrated pest management strategies.
  • Skills in planning and scheduling planting cycles to ensure a continuous and productive supply of horticultural products.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining horticultural equipment such as tractors, cultivators, and irrigation systems.
  • Keen attention to detail in monitoring plant health, identifying abnormalities, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards in horticulture, including environmental regulations and safety protocols.

Salary and Benefits:

The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $70,000 - $85,000; plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
