Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and caring Substitute Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for organizing and leading activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development of children in a safe, organized, and productive manner.


Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will provide support to the lead teacher in classroom instruction and management, ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining high standards of education.
  • They will supervise and interact with children during classroom time and outdoor play, fostering a nurturing environment that encourages learning and growth.
  • In the absence of the lead teacher, they will assume responsibility for students, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • A timely arrival and preparation for classes are essential, allowing for a seamless start to each day.
  • The substitute teacher will greet students and parents as they arrive and leave the program, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • They must remain competent and prepared to activate the Emergency Action Plan, demonstrating expertise in crisis management.
  • Proper clearance and cleaning of the assigned classroom at the end of the program is crucial, adhering to VDSS standards and maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Collaboration with other preschool teachers is vital, ensuring consistent execution of policies and procedures while promoting teamwork and effective communication.
  • Working closely with the Adventure Central Team, they will maintain the highest standard of cleanliness throughout the facility while providing exceptional customer service to children and parents.
  • If not already certified, they will attend CPR/AED training provided by acac; maintaining current certification throughout their employment.
Qualifications
  • Physical demands require standing, moving, walking, and bending for the duration of a shift, ensuring energy and stamina.
  • Participation in indoor and outdoor activities is essential, requiring adaptability and enthusiasm.
  • Frequent lifting, moving, or holding of children necessitates strength and agility.
  • Working professionally and calmly in a potentially noisy and stressful environment demands emotional stability and composure.
  • A High School Diploma is required, with an Associates degree being highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with children in a preschool or summer camp setting is highly sought after.
  • Knowledge of state licensing standards is valuable, indicating a deep understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • A minimum age of 16 years old is mandatory.
