About the Role

The ACT Government is seeking a highly skilled Legislative Drafter to join our team in the Parliamentary Counsel's Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legislative drafting services and advice on complex matters requiring high expertise and judgment.
  • Review and edit the work of other drafters, and take a leading role in PCO committees and drafting projects with significant impact.
  • Assist the parliamentary counsel in leadership, management, and building capacity of PCO, including developing and maintaining specialisation in an area of high relevance to the Territory's drafting needs.
  • May involve direct supervision of staff.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice as a legal practitioner of the ACT Supreme Court, the High Court, or the Supreme Court of a State or another Territory.
  • Experience with drafting bills and regulations is essential.
