Job Overview

The Transport Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the transport industry, requiring a leader with extensive experience in managing teams and subcontractor networks.

The successful candidate will have experience managing budgets, controlling wages and driving profitable operations, while also possessing strong analytical and methodical skills.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage high-performing teams, including direct reports and large subcontractor bases.
  • Manage labour planning, wage control and resource allocation to meet operational and financial targets.
  • Take ownership of site-level performance, ensuring cost-effective service delivery and alignment to budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies through accurate reporting, audits and risk management.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems, processes and policies that enhance operational efficiency and service outcomes.
  • Requirements:
  • Experience managing people, medium to large teams (30+) and subcontractor networks.
  • Proven experience in transport management, ideally with exposure to industrial/unionised sites.
  • Strong understanding of responsibility, cost control and commercial decision-making.
  • Strong financial acumen, with a history of managing budgets, controlling wages and driving profitable operations.
  • Process driven, Analytical and Methodical.
