Optimizing Assembly Processes in a High-Precision Environment

About the Role

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is an essential role for a mechanically inclined engineer dedicated to enhancing assembly processes. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing workflows, facilitating new product introductions, and executing process improvements that drive cost efficiency and product reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, Develop, and Optimize Mechanical Assembly Processes: Design, develop, and optimize mechanical assembly processes for complex CNC machines and subassemblies.
  • Troubleshoot Production Issues: Troubleshoot production issues and implement rapid problem resolution strategies.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures: Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures, assembly instructions, and production documentation.
  • Collaborate on Assembly Line Layout Improvements: Collaborate on assembly line layout and workstation design improvements to enhance efficiency and ergonomics.
  • Coordinate with Design Engineering: Coordinate with Design Engineering to ensure new products are manufacturable and assembly-ready.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects: Lead continuous improvement projects targeting cost reduction, defect reduction, and productivity enhancements.
  • Conduct Time Studies: Conduct time studies and line balancing to optimize assembly flow and efficiency.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Practices: Implement Lean Manufacturing practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Promote Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance within assembly operations.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a genuine interest in leadership development. Candidates should be ready to take on challenges in a fast-paced environment.

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is required. 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, demonstrating process improvement and technical leadership, is also necessary. Registered as a Professional Engineer in Victoria is preferred. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, AutoCAD) and ERP systems is expected. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and automation, is essential.
