Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Principal to join our school community.

Metford Public School is a vibrant learning environment with a strong focus on quality student outcomes in literacy and numeracy. Our enrolment of 302 students includes 31% who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, reflecting the diverse nature of our community.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead curriculum change and implement whole-school improvements through research-based, data-driven, differentiated, and innovative programs.

We offer a range of activities to cater for student engagement, including culture, leadership, and sporting pursuits. Our welfare focus is driven by Positive Behaviour for Learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead all staff in literacy and numeracy professional development, implementing innovative programs that reflect contemporary pedagogical practice.
  • To build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams, ensuring effective resource allocation and management.
  • To develop and implement high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs that meet the needs of all students.
  • To foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, promoting a collaborative and supportive school community.
Selection Criteria
  • Successful teaching experience with a proven ability to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, and classroom practice.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and student welfare, with the ability to lead and design quality teaching and learning programs.
  • Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
