
Senior Linux Kernel Engineer

We are seeking a talented technology expert to lead the architecture, implementation, and ongoing delivery of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
- Drive engagements with key Silicon and Cloud partners to provide optimal solutions for their platforms
- Mitigate common vulnerabilities and exposures for Ubuntu Linux and drive active hardening in the kernel
- Architect enhancements to performance and correctness to make Ubuntu Linux the most reliable and highest performing Linux kernel available today
- Streamline the packaging and distribution of troublesome third-party components for an optimal user experience
This role requires strong people skills and leadership abilities, as well as a deep technical background in operating system kernels and distributions. The ideal candidate will be able to thrive in a remote work environment, have strong communication skills in English, and possess expertise in C programming language.
The successful candidate will set the technical direction and lead a team of junior and mid-career engineers in delivering a key aspect of Ubuntu Linux. They will work closely with management within and outside the team to track and coordinate initiatives to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
- Set technical direction and lead a team of engineers in delivering a key aspect of Ubuntu Linux
- Work closely with management to track and coordinate initiatives to delivery
- Collaborate with senior technical leadership on ensuring Ubuntu stays at the pinnacle of Linux distributions
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of C programming language and experience working in a *nix-based operating system kernel and distribution
- Well-organised and motivated self-starter able to thrive in a remote work environment
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Strong background in RTOS and real-time performance analysis
- Demonstrated experience with kernel patching and debugging
- Strong grasp of device drivers, BSP's, and other low-level system engineering
