Job Title:
Linux Kernel Engineering Leader
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our technical teams in the delivery and ongoing support of all Linux kernels provided by the Ubuntu Linux distribution. As a leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of Linux kernel features, ensuring high-quality code is produced efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
Lead distributed teams of software engineers in distinct aspects of Linux kernel development
Take ownership of particular aspects of Ubuntu Linux including kernel optimization, quality control, security mitigation, process automation, and engagement with other teams and partners
Requirements:
Significant programming experience in C with knowledge of operating system kernel internals and concepts
Demonstrated experience managing or leading software engineering teams
Ability to coordinate between multiple teams and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
Familiarity with version control practices and software packaging formats
