Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a seasoned Database Administrator to support the delivery of a long-term contract with one of our clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in database administration, including experience with Mainframe Db2 and z/OS interfaces.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice to technical specialists and stakeholders, manage database software installations and upgrades, administer database configuration, security, scheme and objects, and oversee the data management process.

The role requires a high level of expertise in database administration, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the client's team to ensure seamless delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert guidance to technical specialists and stakeholders
  • Manage database software installations and upgrades
  • Administer database configuration, security, scheme and objects
  • Oversee the data management process
  • Implement corrective actions to improve performance and availability of databases
  • Design and plan operational backup, archival and recovery activities
  • Escalate unresolved system issues to appropriate vendors or stakeholders
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of Mainframe Db2 Database Administration experience
  • Demonstrated experience in upgrading DB2 to V13
  • Demonstrated experience in migration of ObjectStar Table data store to DB2 on Z/oS
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, maintaining and optimizing DB2 databases
  • Experience with monitoring and diagnostics using Omegamon and query monitor
  • Experience with rolling out maintenance for Db2 across mainframe systems
  • Experience with z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL etc.)
  • Understanding of z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with IBM Db2 tools (Recovery expert, clone tool etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • NV1 Security Clearance
  • Australian Citizenship
