We are seeking an exceptional Lead Environment Artist to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. As a Senior CGI Specialist, you will play a critical role in creating high-quality digital environments for our clients.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from film and television to commercials and emerging technologies. You will be responsible for establishing shaders and lighting setups that look convincing and render efficiently.

As a key member of our team, you will participate in rounds and attend dailies for your show, engaging in creative conversations with show leads and artists from other departments.

You will interpret and respond to client and supervisor feedback with minimal direction from your Lead, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and decision-making skills.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will also mentor more junior Artists and assist them with their shots, helping to develop and test tools and techniques before they are rolled out to shot artists.

Ultimately, you will be prepared to lead a sequence of shots and create the look that the rest of the team follows.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven ability in multiple CG techniques, including modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, look development, matte painting or compositing
  • Excellent communication and team-oriented thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new software
  • Fluency in some or all of these software packages: Nuke, 3dsMax, Maya, Houdini Solaris and Renderman and/or Vray renderer
  • Good working knowledge of specialist tools and plugins like Photoshop, Speedtree, zBrush, Substance Painter, Gaea etc

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
